howto.email MCP server
Use howto.email documentation and public email DNS lookups from an AI assistant or developer tool that supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP). The server is public, read-only, and does not require an API key.
Connect
Add a remote MCP server in your MCP-compatible client, select Streamable HTTP, and enter this endpoint:
https://howto.email/mcp Client setup varies. Not every AI assistant supports adding custom remote MCP servers, so check your client's MCP connection settings.
Available tools
- search_articles — Find documentation using keywords matched against article URL paths.
- get_article — Read the text of a public article using its relative URL path.
- check_spf — Look up a domain's published SPF TXT record.
- check_dmarc — Look up a domain's published DMARC TXT record.
- check_mx — Look up mail exchanger hosts and priorities.
- check_dkim — Look up DKIM records using a known selector.
- check_mta_sts — Inspect MTA-STS DNS records and published policy.
- check_tls_rpt — Look up SMTP TLS reporting records.
- check_bimi — Look up BIMI records.
- analyze_domain — Summarize public email DNS records and informational findings.
DNS checks return public records, not a complete authentication or deliverability assessment. Documentation search currently uses article paths rather than full-text indexing.
Try it
Once connected, ask your MCP client to check the DMARC record for howto.email, or search the documentation for SPF. You can also test the connection using a compatible MCP inspector.
Usage and privacy
Tools are read-only and work with public documentation or DNS records. Do not submit private information as search terms or domain arguments. Requests are subject to rate limits and the service may be temporarily unavailable. No account or paid API subscription is needed.
