OpenPGP/MIME can sign and encrypt MIME email content using OpenPGP keys.
Like S/MIME, it provides message-level cryptographic protection rather than merely protecting an SMTP hop.
The hard operational problems include key discovery, verification, private-key protection, revocation and making the workflow usable for recipients.
